Back in 2015, Tim walked into the gym looking for help to clean up his Olympic weightlifting after training in CrossFit. What started as a desire to improve his technique quickly turned into a passion for the sport—and a competitive journey that’s taken him and 646 to international competitions.
At the time, Tim, a former football player, was strong, athletic and motivated but hadn’t yet explored the finer points of weightlifting technique. He was eager to learn, open to coaching and relearning the lifts, and eager to improve. Together, we laid a strong foundation for the coming years: refining movement patterns, building consistency, and dialing in his lifts rep by rep.
As the months turned into years, his progress was noticeable. As the lifts started to click and the PRs rolled in, Tim set his sights on the competition platform—and he has not looked back since.
Tim’s first meet was at a local Ontario masters competition, and from there, the fire was lit. He’s since gone on to compete and podium at the Pan American Masters, World Masters, Provincial and Canadian Nationals. Each time, he’s shown up stronger, more dialed in, and more committed to putting in maximum effort on the platform.
What has made Tim’s journey stand out isn’t just the medals or the travel—it’s his consistency, drive, and focus. He trains with purpose, asks the right questions, and brings a quiet intensity to every session. His lifting has evolved tremendously, and he’s still pushing every session to get better.
For beginner lifters or anyone thinking about competing regardless of age, Tim’s story is a reminder that progress takes time—but with the right mindset, coaching, commitment and training environment, you can go far.
